Summer Playlist!

This is the playlist I have been listening to this week! I never tend to put 'new' songs on playlists as I tend to get bored of them being played constantly on the radio!

(this wasn't the order the playlist was in... its just uploaded this way!)

Face Time

I hardly use skin treatments and I wouldn't say I have a skincare routine, just water and make-up wipes for taking my make up off of an evening,
Occasionally, I come across those days when you just feel that you skin is all dry and flaky, or you can just tell there is an u and coming zit army protruding from the barricades! Those are the days I like to treat myself to a facial and have some me time!

-Cleansing-

1: Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild
This is for dry skin in the cheeks and oily in the T-zone I started to use this just because my mum had it in the cupboard and I was curious! Its a really nice thick clear gel that doesn't have an overpowering smell which I hate in face products! (maybe I have sensitive sense of smell?) I also really like the fact it only produces a light foam when rubbed into the skin so it doesn't drip or run all over the show!

2: No7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make Up Remover
I bought this when I had an allergic reaction to some unknown eye product (which I have recently discovered to be fake eyelashes....wahhhh) and I love using it for a fix me up eye treat! I find its not ideal in the morning for those panda eyes as it leaves a layer of dewy moisture behind, spoiling/thinning my make up!

3: Simple Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion
I would only ever use this is cotton pads or something as dense as anything looser like cotton wool doesn't apply this product well at all! Although the product itself feels very gentle on the skin and is very moisturising!

-Toners-

1: Clinque Clarifying Lotion
This was given to me by my mum as it was too strong for her skin, honestly this stuff is like acid! I only ever put this on my spot prone areas (forehead, sides of my nose and chin) to dry and clarify those areas.

2: Simple Soothing Toner
This is used all over my face, I mean I don't particularly love it or loath it, but then again with it being the middle step it can be quite hard to review how good it is! I'd say it's a toner that does it's job! It leaves my skin looking great the day after and you can see the removal of residue on the pad afterwards. It Does it's Job!

-Moisturise-

1:Simple Spotless Skin Anti-blemish Moisturiser
Contains Zinc (absorbs excess oil) Chamomile (anti-irritant) Corn starch (mattifier) Aloe Vera (soothes) and phytosphingosine (fights spots and blemishes) and I apply to those spot prone areas. I can't say how successful it is as I don't tend have very spot prone skin! (although maybe this is why, who knows!?)

2:Clinique All About Eyes

This gel like moisturiser is awesome! Although you can't see any difference immediately after application the day after I notice that the redness has faded and my dark circles have brightened! Hallelujah!

3: Simple replenishing rich moisturiser
I love what this product does to my skin, feels very moisturised and really fixes my flaky patches! However I personally think it has a really plasticey smell! I guess that can be a side effect with fragrance free products!

Anyone know of any 'kind to skin' face moisturisers which smell a bit nicer?

After finally getting a job on Tuesday, I decided to congratulate myself by finally replacing my old disintegrating handbag I have possessed for the past 2 years (you did a great job). Now that My new purchase has been lived in the for past 5 days I thought it would be best to write a what's in my bag post before I get the chance to destroy this new one! (won't take much for that to happen!)

This is the new purchase! It's a leather satchel with woven panels from TK Maxx for £29.99! I think with bags it's worthwhile splashing the cash a bit more, as it has survive daily use, go with most outfits, be multiseasonal and be big/strong enough to carry most girl junk!

The contents released!!
So far, I have managed to keep myself from hoarding rubbish in my bag (guilty as charged), although I have no idea how long this will last!

Purse: Primark £4
Umbrella: Fulton £20 (Jokes, Poundland, £1)

Yes. Genuinely my phone. No its not temporary. Owned it for 1 and a half years. Moving on...

Nailed

I have recently been trying REALLY hard to take better care of my nails, as I can never be bothered to paint them as its such a vagina ache to prepare and paint and sit doing nothing while they dry then they smudge and crack anyway and arghh just no!

I then went through a phase of wearing fake nails as it was sooo much easier just to stick some on, than do all the previous mentioned, and they would actually look alright for a brief period. That span has unfortunately resulted in my nails being 10x worse so I am trying to ween myself off them

For this look I have used:

: No7 Stay Perfect Base Coat
What I love about these No7 polishes is the fact that the brush is wide and flat (instead of circular) and the bristles don't feel like that cheap plastic type that tend to leave scratch marks as you paint (I realise its clear, but this way the colour doesn't sink into the scratches!)

Both the No7 polishes price up at £6 each, however there is normally always some sort of No7 offer on. When i bought these it was buy 1 get the 2nd half price, I also then had a £3 off voucher so I got the pair for £6! Extreme Value for money there!

I have the color (I know I know, damn you american branding) show nail polish in this coral colour and a turquoise colour and I love the colours of them both! they are highly pigmented and can't fault them on that! However, the first couple of applications I found it really hard to apply (maybe my lack of skill) as because the colours are so vivid, any faults become more obvious. With the Coral pot aswell, I have noticed that the paint has started to split or something, there is an orangey liquid in there, and with no amount of mixing or shaking won't disappear!I have only had them for about 2 months but at £2.99 I guess I shouldn't complain too much!

: Primark Nails Wraps
I bought these originally as an experiment however I have fallen in love with them and make my life so much easier! These work really well for me, when I have applied them previously they have lasted about a week, although the pattern starts to fade after about 2 days. (Although I have recommended them to a few people and they just haven't worked the same, some of my friends have said they applied them in the evening, went to bed and woke up the next morning and they had all peeled off in the night) So I guess It just depends on your nail beds etc, but at £1 for 20 foils, I would suggest a 'try' and if they're not right for you, nothing lost!

London Collections Men: Day 2 Trends!

Firstly, I apologise for the quality of this post, I was awake far to early and I have been busy literally every second of this day resulting in one exhausted girl! So I have rushed this so I can recover in bed A.S.A.P!

I also wanted to point out I am studying as a designer, not a trend-spotter so these are pretty amateur attempts! It's just recurrences I have noticed as I have been watching all the collections!

However here is a round up of Day 2 Trends!

London Collections Men: Day 1 Trends

Yesterday kick-started London Fashion Collections for Spring Summer 2014! Ideally, I wanted to give updates twice a day, but unfortunately yesterday I was preoccupied with the family with it being fathers day and all and tomorrow I have an interview!

So with delay, here are a few trends I have seen appearing from yesterdays collections!

Colour Palette:

Prints:

                   Oversized                                     Images                                       Detailed

Fabric:

Nearly every collection featured some variation of fabric with a rubbery texture or glazed sheen.
Its probably executed best in Kay Kowks' collection. Here's the youtube video as it best illustrates what i mean with the whole sheen rubbery thing!

Fashion Drawing Course

As I have mentioned in a previous post, over summer I am following the 'Fashion Design Drawing Course' by Caroline Tatham & Julian Seaman to improve my confidence and skills in Illustration.

The book has 24 units (each a breif or a project) to complete, spread over 4 chapters:
Finding Inspiration
Illustrating Fashion
Planning and Designing
Communicating your Vision

Unit 1: Visiting a museum

In this first unit, I had to visit a museum and spend a day looking around all the exhibitions making quick sketches, to then pick one theme to use as an inspiration to form a small collection.
I visited The World Museum in Liverpool and decided on The Bug House, using the grasshopper as my main design source.

So here's a selection of pieces from my sketchbook!
(p.s: The images haven't scanned as well as I thought and some of my favorite pieces aren't even visable! I will keep this in mind when working on the other projects!)
Sketch taken at the museum
Experimenting with media
Garment ideas

Cocoa Brown

Today I am reviewing a fake tan mousse I have heard oh so much about!
Cocoa Brown 1 hour tan mousse is a 'revolutionary' self tan, which can develop colour in just 1 hour, and can last up to 7 days.

I usually wear St.Moriz self tan mousse, applied a day before I need it, leaving it to develop overnight before showering. Or, if its a last minute fix i need, Sally Hansen airbrush legs comes and saves the day! (top product! I would recommend it, but beware, it will stain your carpet!) So after reading up about CB, i figured it may be a suitable replaced for both of my previous tanners!

The Review:
I love the packaging, its modern, fun and in a metal container (easier to clean/doesn't stain like plastic bottles do) and comes with handy tanning tips!
The mousse itself is a MUCH better consistency than st St.Moriz one, which I find to be quite watery and takes ages to absorb into the skin. Also, prepare for the delight you feel when you realise there is no fake tan smell! Which instead has been replaced by a heavenly fruity smell which reminded me of a shampoo/conditioner type scent, fabulous!

Another application pro, is because the mouse is coloured, when applied it leaves the colour/trace of where the product has been, meaning, even coatings forever more! =)
As I am going out tonight, I decided to leave it on for the 3 hour development it suggests for a deeper tan.
Here are the results!

Before           After
The result was lighter than what I was expecting, (although this isn't a bad thing, and it also continues to develop slightly after showering) but I have to say it's a really natural, even looking colour! Perhaps more suited for an everyday tan than the quick fix before a night out, looks like sally's staying!

Comparing the St.Moriz and Cocoa Brown products, I will definitely be scraping Mr Moriz for Mr  Brown, as overall its easily a far superior product, and available for only £6 at selected Primark Stores!(£8 average in other retailers)

Happy Tanning!

Androdomes

Concept Board
Having had a flick through my Portfolio from the past year, there are a few pieces that really stand out to me. In this blog I am sharing some of my work from one of my university projects, where we had to design an outfit out of recycled garments, based on a theme generated from a title we picked out of a hat.

The title was Domestic, and after research and other such boring things my mind somehow conjured up a theme I called AndroDomes (androgyny/domestic), based on the ideology that being androgynous, or crossing dress and other related issues 'break' the domestic norm and can cause fear, rejection and abuse from others.

I wanted to develop and design a garment which was androgynous, yet showed elements of protection from the possibility of facing abuse. Protection for being yourself.

Hope you enjoy looking!

Print Out

This is just a quickie on one of my new(ish) purchases which is fast becoming one of my summer staples!

Being a jobless student, I picked these printed trousers up for £7 at a George at ASDA mid season sale, (practically stole them I think!).

I have worn them with sheer shirts, vests, cropped jumpers but today I have styled them with a forever 21 loose waterfall blazer which i gathered at the back to show more of my figure and a pair of platform wedges from tk maxx.

Tomorrow I plan making most of the weather by taking some nature/scenic photography which will form my next post to be published in the next few days!

huh? I'm setting up a blog?

After months of deliberation, weeks of procrastination (...I mean preparation) D-Day is finally here...

... I have launched a blog! :O

With writing not being one of my strong points, or being blessed with any skill of expressing myself for that matter, also considering my lack in social media presence (apart from facebook, used primarily for candy crush purposes) I have decided it could only be beneficial to branch out into the world of tinterweb communication.

So in an exciting turn of events I have thrown myself into the deep end and set up a twitter account, as well as launching my blog!
I should warn you that this could possibly turn out to be one of the worst twitter profiles to be created, to find out, follow @HannahBascombex

If you are still reading this, it means I haven't put you off with my top notch promotional skill set. For that you should be congratulated, and for your reward, I shall unveil some of the ideas and content I plan on publishing through this blog!

- I have recently obtained shed loads of fabrics, pattern pieces and other componements to add to the other shed full. I was then faced with the parents sudden wrath of the dreaded 'clear out'. This hindrance somehow sparked the idea to modernise some of the patterns, make them up, and sell them, along with other textile and jewellery pieces! (wearmeoutx, makes more sense now?) So I can get rid of some of the fabrics and exercising what I have learnt at uni this year! Let us hope it all goes to plan!

- I feel my drawing/illustration skills aren't up to scratch, so I am following a book course titled 'Fashion Design Drawing Course' by Caroline Tatham and Julian Seaman in an attempt to improve my confidence and skills. I am aiming to upload some of my 'achievements' each week for some honest and critical feedback!

- Then as with any other blog I will use my corner of the internet to expose my own thoughts and opinions as well as a few updates on what's happening in my life!

Stay Tuned!
